[ Honestly when Vincent saw Lapine for the first time it made him think about fairy tales about moogles. Hills instead of trees but definitely had that feel. ]
So spring break is a break from the school you're attending? Why did you go there?
[There's a delay as wording is carefully considered. They both worked for the same people, didn't they? SO he can't be too scornful of how he was raised.]
Partly because I dislike being left at loose ends. Partly because I've come to find out my instructors left much out of my education. I have a lot to catch up on.
While I understand that mathematics, arts and the sciences won't serve me much in SOLDIER, I don't feel it's a waste of my time here as I have no other assignments and little to keep myself occupied with.
[ Vincent is all too aware of how Hojo thinks and acts about his science projects. Sephiroth having more agency as a 'success' doesn't mean his early development was well-rounded. ]
Math and science are useful. Arts, who knows? It can help.
[ Know one's enemy. Know how to calculate trajectory, understand gravity, chemicals. Maybe that's the Turk in him though, thinking that the more knowledge and education you have the better you can deal with an enemy.
It's just as true that if you want to be a SOLDIER, you can probably just attack what you're pointed at, no questions asked. Thoughts that border on empathy might get in the way. ]
Guess I expected to hear you went to the school in Cruel Summer. For the routine.
I'm sure I could make a reasonable argument for chemistry and physics. But I know I'll never get aerospace engineering past anyone in command.
Agrona Academy is for students in the arts of fighting. I am not a student. Sending me there would be as wasteful as sending you, I already know how to kill, and prefer to do so on my own without some well meaning but ignorant 'teacher' following me around trying to 'help' and having to hold back in case they decide to 'helpfully' get between me and my target so they don't die too. It's hard enough trying to find my limits as it is.
Though if you ever need target practice, I can recommend a couple of nests I haven't completely cleared out. I was saving them until I had a better weapon than bare fists, but I don't mind.
[ That's alarming. Very alarming. You could even say Omega levels of alarming. In text it just seems curious. ]
I'll probably need to find them at some point. Nests that is.
[ Figure out what sort of monsters are out there. Maybe also other reasons. Sephiroth isn't the only Gaian that might need an emergency outlet. There's enough room for a response about the teen's education. ]
Explain it as seeing what a SOLDIER can do with aerial combat. In an actual vehicle.
[ Well, you'd definitely need to engineer something to make it worth putting a SOLDIER in an aircraft instead of just launching him at the enemy aircraft. So that might have been a joke. ]
It's silly, I know. It's not what I'm meant for. But there's a woman here, who comes from a place where traveling the stars is a daily occurrence, like you might take the train to work. She told me about it. Where there's countless worlds, countless intelligent species, and all of the galaxy just there, waiting to be explored.
Can you imagine what it must be like? I want to see it. I know it won't happen. But if there's one thing I can take back with me, something I can carve into my heart so deeply that I'll never forget it, it's that. There's more out there, more than any of us will ever know, and we're stuck on one tiny little planet, ignorant of it all.
I don't need a vehicle for aerial combat, but there IS a space program starting in Shinra, last I heard. If they're going to make me into their television hero, maybe I can use that to influence things a bit, put some money into rockets instead of guns. The durability of a SOLDIER would probably be of immense help in the void between stars.
I'll mark the best locations on a map the next time we meet, assuming you're at the level of most other Turks. I don't want to throw you head first into a dragon's lair when you've just got a pistol.
[ It really is going to be a matter of more sins then, isn't it? Though Vincent appreciates the consideration about monster nests. He's not going to take offense. ]
Thanks.
[ First, the map marking gratitude. Then, Sephiroth's dreams and aspirations. ]
I've never really thought much about it to be honest.
[ It's probably as close an answer as this conversation will get out of Vincent about his personal feelings. ]
That program. If you make it back, take everything you can with you.
[ It's not the doubt. It's the possibility that it's too late. But while there's an opportunity... ]
I suppose this isn't what you wanted to ask me about though.
[ That bit at the beginning of all this, where questions remain. ]
It'd be better to meet somewhere quiet. [ Things that couldn't be traced or recorded or interrupted.
[He's never really had any dreams before, or even just hopes for the future. It was new and he wasn't sure what to do with the idea precisely, but he wanted to see it himself. Hyperspace. New worlds. Aliens.]
No, but it's not a bad subject on its own.
Talking like this is easier, and it still gains Lore, so it's better than in person in some ways for a lot of things. But personnel questions might not qualify for that.
[Personell. Personal. Whichever.]
With sufficient notification I can reach most places in a day or two even if they're off the rail lines. I do not recommend Cruel Summer, it's hot. Or Epiphany or Wintermute, soggy and freezing accordingly.
If I don't have clearance and I ask something I'm not supposed to know, please inform me. 'I don't know' is a lot more frustrating than red tape.
Very early morning or very late would be best, then. It's not ideal for flight, but it's better than baking gently into a piece of beef jerky, I've seen how you dress.
Will you be alright with that kind of climb? I'm unsure you've been here long enough to acquire the right kind of equipment.
A bit. They're a common, domesticated monster used for transport. A true-bred black Chocobo should be capable of crossing bodies of water as well as scale mountains. Ah, I see, the terrain should be no issue if you gain their abilities.
I know very little about the Roles save that their stereotypes are misleading, and may not align with what a person is like. I was assigned 'legend'.
Legend, is it? I suppose that's what you meant by flying.
[ The heroes. At least that's the stereotype. And it's not like people didn't see Sephiroth as a hero... once. Maybe he even was. So why think the Fox is wrong? But why isn't as important as what. Vincent can't allow himself to think of it in another way right now. ]
Given how close it is to Cruel Summer, I don't want to mistake you for the local monsters. What should I look for?
Then you've gained more than most do, near as I can tell. The only other familiar I've heard of becomes a more ordinary, much smaller bird. Not as useful in the long run.
We'll most certainly be well within the bounds of Cruel Summer, you may wish to arm yourself accordingly. I'll be airborne in the daylight for one, most have the sense not to be, and I should be pretty visibly black and white. If I find you before you spot me I'll make myself more obvious.
Let me know when you're ready, it might take some time to get where you're going on foot. Please be prepared for an environment as harsh as the Corel Desert.
[ Vincent did wonder about his luck. Or maybe it was something to do with his body's makeup. (it wasn't). ]
Three days from now, halfway up the ocean face then. I'll be there by 8am.
[ Too little information? Not specific enough coordinates? Consider it an enrichment game. Spot the Turk. Honestly there's no reason to assume he wouldn't have something to signal a person in flight. Or couldn't be easily picked out of the rocky face. That cloak had been stunningly red.
Even if he probably shouldn't be dressing like that in a desert environment. ]
[He's.. going to bring some extra supplies. Turks are known for their training and preparedness, but he suspects Vincent will be unprepared for Cruel Summer's ... cruelty.]

I'll clarify. Though there might be some things that I really don't know the answer for.

There is a mountain near Agrona. On the ocean side of that barrier may be ideal.
