OOC PREFERENCES:
•CONTACT METHOD: DM (
coffinturk), Discord (Everyworker) or Plurk (
maruah)
•THREAD-JACKING: Ask all involved please! But generally okay if everyone's cool.
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: Ask about Fourth Walling; too much at once can make things awkward depending on the situation and I prefer fostering CR (Vincent's the sort of guy who wouldn't bother with a person who acts like he's fictional/pretends to know everything about him). Sounds like Matt Mercer/Steve Blum/Shougo Suzuki/etc? Who're they? It's cool to tell him about future things/alternate timeline things. Vincent is from end of Dirge, and will be prone not to say much about future fates himself.
•BACKTAGGING: Generally! Though if it's a new tag 2+months out, please reach out to me in case something's changed because of IC circumstances.
•AVOIDED TOPICS: Rape, child molestation. I am against these outside of 'yeah that is in this character's backstory' and hopefully they are not actually brought up.
•PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: Maruah: she/they Vincent: he/they (In context of mixups, I'm pretty casual about this since gender can be easy to confuse online!)
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: FF7 Dirge of Cerberus (Between diving into Omega and end cutscene.) Some VERY light embellishments from Rebirth that suit/fit the OG timeline.
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Character References Vincent is about six foot tall and looks human. Well could be mistaken for a vampire. He has pale skin, red eyes with inhuman light and long black hair. He wears clothes that keep most of his body covered, brass-colored armor and wears an armored gauntlet on his left arm with claw-tip fingers. The red cloak has a very distinctive wrap collar that often covers the lower half of his face and a red scarf wrapped around his brow keeps his hair from getting in his eyes. Mostly. He will be often seen with a three barrel, highly customized gun called Cerberus with a charm off the grip depicting a three-headed dog. This is his Warden Key.
It would be rare to not see him attired like this though sometimes he might have other guns with him. His manner of speech and outward expression tends to be direct, short and either cold or apathetic. Subtle changes in his tone and the occasional smile might get caught expressing a sly sense of dry humor. There might be different scents around him. Even if he looks like an undead, he'd smell like a living being. He is not really human anymore but besides fabric, there might be the smell of some sort of beast and of course gunpowder, metal and gunoil. Sometimes the edges of his cloak hem might curl like it's caught in a draft, even if there isn't a trace of airflow. It's probably fine.
•DEMEANOR: Vincent is very prone to avoiding being in the center of a crowd. He is introverted and tends to be withdrawn. Whether it's a long developed habit or just something about how he's always been, he tends to come across as very apathetic and indifferent to what's going on around him; if not outright uncaring. In short, when he's not on the job he's prone to give the impression he just wants to be left alone. Which... in fairness he does, but it's not as if unwilling to make time for friends or even occasionally look for compansionship. How much energy he has to give for social activity is generally low.
He has no problem whatsoever turning up the creepy, spooky effects to ward people off. He pretty much embodies this.
•ABILITIES:
Subject of Experimentation: He's been given an 'immortal' body, monstrous transformations, regenerative capability and heightened senses via intense experimentation on his body. Vincent has received overly-fatal levels of damage; while he can be knocked unconscious, suffer pain and the like, he heals up in a short period of time and just... gets back up. His reflexes and strength are clearly far beyond the human norm and he seems capable of defying or manipulating how gravity affects him for limited periods of time (you know this bs or this). His resilent body allowed him to survive the integration of the quasi-WEAPON called Chaos. In balance it seems hinted that he has to fight the urge to sleep.
Heightened Senses: Somewhere between a strong connection to the planet and the monster-senses, Vincent exhibits extrasensory abilities and a keen sense to discern when something is amiss in the natural order. He seems able to sense oddities, fiends, and monsters despite there being some distance between himself and the cause. He's probably hard to sneak up on as well.
Magic Potential: While materia's generally the only means on his world for using magic, Vincent is a decently strong spellcaster in that regard, with a fairly generous amount of mana to draw on.
Shapeshifting: Part of the original experiments on him have given Vincent access to other forms; a behemoth-hybrid called Galian Beast, two humanoid creatures on par with horror movies and the 'demiWEAPON' Chaos (see below). While the intervening years have given him the ability to briefly transform without losing control, it is still a very feral, bestial state for him. A controlled transformation readily drains the same energy used to cast magic and would leave him unable to use spells for a while after. Less controlled transformations could last longer and sometimes might require that he simply be beaten down to stop the rampage.
Ancient/Proto Materia: Within his body resides an ancient materia created by the Planet. It is connected to Omega and Chaos and, when Chaos was within him, quelled its rage and allowed him to retain his human consciousness. Other than being something people might detect and having a type of energy one might expect from 'highly condensed lifestream' pulsing from it, it's so specialized that it has very limited functions: exerting influence over Omega and Chaos (allowing Vincent to control Chaos) and providing shield against their energy. Without this, Vincent cannot easily control or suppress Chaos, though he has succeeded at it.
Chaos Host: Vincent plays host to the planetary 'demiWEAPON', Chaos. Unlike his other transformations (probably), the entity is a being in its own right, acting as herald to events which would summon the WEAPON Omega. In the event of a catastrophe that damages the planet beyond saving, Chaos appears to return all life to the Lifestream which Omega then takes to the stars to find another world to settle on. Being a creature attuned to and crafted by the dark evils, terrors and 'sins' naturally pushed out of the Lifestream, Vincent remains virtually immune to such influences as a result. Chaos is extremely powerful, massively amping up strength, regeneration, and agility to a godlike degree (he chucks a massive anti-airship artillery canon through someone's body like a knife through butter in this state). He is capable of flight and deadly projectile attacks. By the end of Dirge also learns how to draw on the strength and power of Chaos while keeping his human form, arguably pushing him to speeds and strengths that probably easily surpass SOLDIER (at the time of this, the only cinematic example is fighting against another WEAPON-Empowered individual, where the two are moving at speeds where you only see the spark of weapons clashing and after-images taking fatal strikes).
Mundane Skills: Vincent is a former member of Shinra Company's Turks, a group of specialists who were responsible for investigations, intelligence, security and the dirty work. Company fixers if you will. Vincent is trained in a wide range of skills that facilitate the work he performed. This would include hand-to-hand combat, intelligence, stealth, surveilance, security and any number of useful skills such operatives would find useful in their line of work (yes, he probably does know how to make makeshift bombs out of household chemicals, it's probably fine). Even before the experiments that changed his body, his particular specialty was in firearms and marksmanship; he was considered the best of his time. He also is a dab hand at the trading card game 'Queen's Blood' and seems more than capable of reading and understanding scientific reports on a fundamental level; likely a combination of vested interest in what happened to him and having a scientist father.
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: Vincent has undergone extreme scientific experimentation on his body. There might be internal signs of proceedures (it's never clear in canon and given his body regenerates...). He also has a spherical orb (materia) in his chest. Injuries, no matter how severe will be healed as his body kicks into hyper regeneration. His blood type is A! He'll probably come to talk to the Infirmary about medical needs (a sort of 'focus on others, I'll be fine' notice for triage). He would also warn against removing the materia or risks to human exposure to Chaos energy/stagnant mako. If this last bit is still here in the 'come to talk', he hasn't done that yet. Glorious CR potential!
•CABIN INFORMATION: The door of Vincent's cabin will be wooden and reminescent of a manor door. Inside there is a strong resemblance to an old mansion, a little faded from time and antique furniture, but it's still very nice; upholstered leather chairs and sofa, matching real wood tables and paneled walls. While there isn't a speck of dust or cobweb, there's still an air of abandonment. That if you stay around until midnight, you might see old ghosts slipping through. The kitchen is a little more modern, though the cabinets and paper still match the inspiration of a turn of the century mansion. Gas burners, an oven, fridge and cast iron. At least there's a coffee maker and a microwave. There's probably a small collection of liqours somewhere.
The bathroom's most notable feature is a claw-foot bathtub but has all you'd expect; toilet, sink and shower head. Other than that there are three side rooms. One is clearly a combination study and workbench, where firearms and the stuff to keep them maintained are kept as well as a place to work. Books are kept on shelves. One is a guest bedroom and the third is.... well there's a coffin in there. If you ever get a chance to look. Don't worry about it.
Decorations on the wall match in a way that suggest it's not personalized. There is a small statue on the shelf, what appears to be a humanoid, perhaps female, encased in a frosted, crystalized structure. Details cannot be made out of the figure inside. For the decor, it stands out just a little bit in conflict; just like the guns and workbench in that one room is one of the few signs in the room of Vincent's personal touch.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: While Vincent generally doesn't have limits on subjects to talk about, he'll be particularly sensitive or alerty to subjects of abuse (particularly of children), human experimentation or monsters. He's seen a lot of the worst and best of humanity. Naturally he would remain very alert if someone were to talk about the glory of genocide or any particularly dangerous or terrible will have him on alert.
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: Ask first! I like to plot some of these. There are some situations where certain mental attacks can't get to Vincent. Otherwise feel free to open end an effort and I'll work with you on the fly!
•MIMICRY: As long as it's just physical appearance and voice. Duplicating powers may need plotting and checks with how things work.
•VIOLENCE: Sure!
•MAGIC: Yup.
•DEBATE: Yes, good luck.
•OTHER / NOTES: I'm open for a lot of CR mixup and meeting shenannigans. Please feel free to contact me! Despite his seriousness, he does have a sense of humor and am largely okay with most sorts of scenarios. I'm good with trying to work out reasons for things to happen when they normally might be hard to arrange. Romance? Probably not a thing with Vincent especially in this setting.
