Vincent Valentine
Also, spoilers for the original Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus (Also FF7. But mostly Vincent rocking around cinematically to Gackt music.)
Over twenty years passed after the experiments turned Vincent into what he is today. The majority of that time was spent in a self-imposed slumber, suffering nightmares of the past events. He finally left his exile to follow Cloud as he hunted what Sephiroth had become, hoping to find and confront Hojo. Along the journey he came to value his allies and aided their journey more out of care for what was happening than the drive for revenge and absolution. Along with the others, he discovered a cave in which Lucrecia, unable to die because of the Jenova in her body, had imprisoned herself in solidified mako. When asked if her son lived, Vincent lied and said he had died.
He was also able to face Hojo, finally realizing that much of the terrors Vincent had blamed himself for were faults of professor's unchecked pursuits in scientific experimentation. Though he and his allies were able to kill the scientist, Vincent would later return to discover Hojo had lived long enough to trigger something else though he was forced to retreat before fully exploring what that was.
Two years after the events of preventing the world's destruction at Sephiroth's hands, Vincent was drawn out of his distant travels and solitude to face the issues caused by a worldwide pandemic known as Geostigma. Learning that this was instigated by Sephiroth's will to be reborn through beings of concentrated Geostigma known as Remnants, Vincent would join Cloud to defeat the summoned Bahamut SIN that threated Midgar and help open the way to bring an end to the madman's bid for rebirth.
Then a year after Geostigma, Hojo's last act manifested as Deepground emerged. Lead by the elite Tsviets, this unit had twofold purpose. Ressurrect their leader and find the Protomateria which had been used to stablize the Chaos energy Lucrecia used to save Vincent. Reluctantly drawn into the fray, Vincent pursues Deepground who have been kidnapping people, using them to create a 'pure' pool of lifestream with which to bring about the incarnation of Omega WEAPON; meant to act as the catalyst to launch the planet's lifestream into the stars to find a new home, at the expense of the destruction and death of everything else left behind. In the end, aided by his new and old allies, Vincent is able to use Chaos; a WEAPON like companion to Omega used to return as much life as possible to the Lifestream, to put a stop to Omega's launch. Along the way he gains some closure on old wounds and comes to better terms with his survival and past traumas.
Then, because Vincent cannot have nice things, on the way to go see his friends, the Fox nips in and spirits him away.
...Though honestly this is probably more like a vacation at this point. Even if he is supposed to be finding his potential along the way.
He also explored his newfound ability to become a black chocobo with varying levels of interruption.
After escorting a woman named Rachel to a safer place, he set out, largely avoiding other Star Children. Because that is what he does.
Of course no one, especially not Thoth, was just going to let him wander around when he had definitely taken an offer off the wanted (for SCIENCE!) poster. So he found himself testing problem solving skills with a youth named Gene and an entire room of experimental (and normal) equipment. Most of it was even for climbing.
At least he got a gun from home. But that also came attached to the knowledge there is a Sephiroth from home too. A younger, less driven-to-insanity version who looks a lot like his mother. Leaving the teenage SOLDIER to believe he was (still) a Turk working for the Shinra Company, Vincent eventually retreated to figure out his next steps.
physical attributes As a Familiar, Vincent will possess black feathers mixed with his hair and a moderate tail tuft consistent with the black chocobo which will be his initial shift. The feathers in his hair might be easier to pick out than getting a visual on the tail tuft thanks to his cloak's design but rest assured it will billow dramatically and provide some good opportunities.
non-physical qualities A black chocobo in Vincent's world is capable of crossing mountains, rivers and ocean shallows as easy as most other chocobos would cross a field. They are flightless but able to carry at least one rider and saddlebags. Very familiar with shapeshifting he will have an easier time than most adjusting to the process. However he will not be able to use his Familiar talents to access, much less control the metamorphoses gained through the experiments on his body. Trying will result in a conflict that gambles how much control he'd have over the feral monster he became and he is definitely not willing to risk the resulting rampage and death. Outside of the usual Familiar shapeshifting skill, Vincent also has the ability to psychically bond.
reasoning Vincent is neither hero nor villain. Though he cares about the dangers to his world more than his demeanor suggests, he tends to fall into the role of one who supports the heroic efforts of others or simply supportive of those he considers friends. He generally acts as the confidant and the one who offers aid from the shadows, willing to do both good and evil if it is what is needed to get the job done.

Iteration
Vincent is drawn from the original game's canon timeline. He has yet to be in Folkmore for very long, though first arrived in Wintermute during the April Arrival of Star Children. After being rescued by a familiar face, he faced various encounters, got some help understanding the relic a bit better and was forced to share a personal story with a stranger after a bunch of mechanical dogs piled on top of him until he submitted to Thoth's polite request to stay a while and listen (and be listened to). His choice was a bit of a cop out but then so was the stranger's so it was okay?He also explored his newfound ability to become a black chocobo with varying levels of interruption.
