I will need time to gather my companion.

Action

[personal profile] todayiwas 2024-07-25 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Justine doesn't want to keep either of them waiting, so she arrives with her hair still in curls and uncovered, but she quickly slides a bonnet on and ties it underneath as she adjusts her pink skirts.

"Oh! Are you the one we're supposed to meet?" she wonders with a bright laugh.

Thrawn walks up from behind Justine, hands set behind him. He gives a courteous nod to both.

"Hello, Vincent Valentine. This is my companion, Mademoiselle Justine Florbelle."

A mouthful of a name, but most Chiss names are exceedingly long too.

"Shall we?"

"Thank you, Monsieur."

Justine is just fine with her very long and elaborate name and will not be giving any sort of shortening to it. But her eyes stay on the package, though she glances at Vincent just once, taking him in.

"Is it as you know it?" she asks Thrawn, standing up a little on her toes to see better.

Thrawn nods back, cataloging this information. His red eyes gaze back at Vincent, cataloging him as well. He too doesn't give his shortened Core name but it's likely due to political ineptitude, something he may correct later on.

He takes the package in hand, looking it over before addressing Justine.

"So it seems. Vincent, may I have a scalpel?"

Justine rolls her eyes and produces a small knife from underneath her corset, handing that over to Thrawn, handle first.

"I hardly think it's worth explaining," she tells Vincent with a scoff.

Thrawn nods his thanks to Justine and promptly slices his own palm open with the knife. He wipes it down with his handkerchief and hands it back to her, then works swiftly to get the patch open.

"Observe." He remarks, dry, and shows Vincent (and Justine) how he overlays the patch onto the wound. Healing bacteria is already hard at work; the patch sticks to the wound, working hard to close it in rapid time.

She looks up to him with a pout.

"A warden gave me that," she tells him firmly.

Thank God the Belmont brute gave her a second.

She waves the man off, focusing her attention on the bacteria as it works.

Thrawn allows the knife to be taken from them, but his eyes stare hard into Vincent. It's always difficult to read what he's feeling, but there's a tension in the air that wasn't there before.

He blinks, and it releases, as he turns his gaze back to Justine, holding his hand out for the other to to watch the bacta patch at work.

"Under normal circumstances, you would keep this on for one hour, replacing it as until the wound is gone. This cut is superficial; it should only be a few more moments."

He removes the patch; the cut is mostly gone, a slightly darker blue mark indicating his natural healing urged along.

"Trevor Belmont," she answers without looking at him.

"Is there pain in the healing?" she asks Thrawn. "How fresh does it have to be? Does it work on broken bones? What - " She pauses, literally biting her tongue to keep from asking too many questions. She rests her arm on Thrawn's, trying to lower his hand so she can see better.

"It is." He tells Vincent first and foremost. "When the wound becomes too large or too life-threatening, then the full tank ought to be used."

Back to Justine. Thrawn has endless stores of patience for those willing to learn; he answers as smooth and quick as he's able to find the words. He lowers his arm down for her to see, allowing her to turn his palm how she likes.

"No more pain than the wound itself, and the age of it does not matter; bacta will urge along a body's natural healing, which is why it's considered my galaxy's effective 'cure all'. It does work on broken bones, but I would suggest coating a regular cast with bacta inside first so that when the bone is knitted together again, it does not heal the wrong way. And of course, physical therapy will still be needed."

Physical therapy. She moves her lips to repeat the words, though she doesn't actually know what it entails. She'll need to look it up later.

She turns his hand towards her, watching it carefully, reaching out to gently touch the palm of his hand where the wound had been. It doesn't open, nor does it give any indication that it might be an illusion.

"What are the components of it?" she wonders, ignoring Vincent. He has his questions for his reasons, she has her's for her own.

"It is." He confirms with Vincent. "Really, what's done isn't a hard plaster mold - more of a sturdy layering of cloth bandages would do. The major reason it isn't fully conducted is usually cost and a sense of claustrophobia: if you are uncomfortable with the feeling of drowning or your injuries are minor, the tank becomes overkill."

To Justine, he begins to remove the patch, showing her how it sticks briefly to the skin before releasing, bearing unbroken skin underneath.

"If you're asking for a complete biometric read-out, I can deliver that to you both. The short answer is it's a sort of bacteria. A living component that reads your body make-up and acts as your blood cells would, only far more quickly."

She looks over her shoulder. "If you have the information, Monsieur, might I have it?" She doesn't bother fluttering her eyelashes or any of the other nonsense she usually uses to get what she wants. If she can't get it from Vincent, then she can get it from Thrawn with very little effort.

She returns her attention to underneath the patch, sucking in air through her teeth at the look of it. Fascinating.

"No - it is the same mixture."

Thrawn inclines his head in acknowledgement, and removes the patch entirely to throw it away.

"Will that be all, Warden Valentine?"

To Justine, he turns to leave, but waits for her at the doorway, figuring she may linger and he'll offer to walk her out. He needs to apologize for the loss of her knife.
