It got about the same reaction, too, though only after Vincent ceased the motion. He didn't mean to discourage it. It was exciting to get a physical reaction out of Vincent and he was secretly pleased to get the closest thing to petting from the dark haired human.

Maybe one day Vincent will find what Nanaki's boundary about pets is. Then all the feline needs to do is conquer the barrier that is Vincent's reluctance for physical expressions.

"Hm." Cloud nods. Angeal and Nanaki - both make sense. He doesn't love the idea of having to "report" to everyone he knows about his relationships, but he supposes in this case it's the fair thing to do, even if just to set expectations.
He tilts his head slightly as Vincent goes on. At first, it seems like a bit of a non sequitur, but the connection clicks in Cloud's mind quickly. He is a little surprised that Vincent is following through on that promise, but pleasantly so. What he did to Max to get himself demoted is relatively tame compared to what he was like as an Inmate. I'd like to think he won't be quite as disruptive this time.

After positioning the phone, he sights on a spider, takes the rubber band to stretch it back, before zinging it at the target. Pinpoint accuracy brings it down. It's clearly alive, but stunned. Well, it's going to be left there to recover. SOmeone may find a rubber band in the hall later and question it. Who knows. Vincent returns to the cabin and his place by the supplies. ]
The goal is to capture as many spiders as you can, alive. You can't touch the spiders directly until they are incapacitated. And you only have thirty pieces of ammunition each. If you break them, that's the end. The one who collects the most living spiders, wins a reasonable request from me.

Yes. One with a purpose. There are easier ways to handle the spiders. But this is to train. You will need to rely on skill and temper your strength. And you will need patience.
